Imogen Heap – Bad Body Double [MP3] Imogen Heap – First Train Home [MP3]
British songstress Imogen Heap has just finished a successful two months long North American tour and is heading back to Europe for more shows. If you’ve been following Imogen’s career, you probably know she is an avid social media user who engages her listeners in her creative process. For the Ellipse tour, promoting her latest Grammy winning album, Imogen created a real adventure for her audience. With clear voice, live sampling, rather unusual and quirky instruments and her absolutely charming stage presence her show is quite a spectacular and memorable experience. Different in every city, her two hours set list in Seattle included fans’ most favourite songs from Ellipse (2009) and Speak for Yourself (2005) as well as Frou Frou repertoire. Check out Imogen’s directed party version of “First Train Home”.
From feet to birds to jewish curses, Bob Dylan covered it all on his radio talkshow. At times he invited Tom Waits to send him tapes with his thoughts. The result is pretty psychedelic.
Florence + the Machine broke into the vivid London scene back in 2007. One can safely refer to Florence as one of the most exciting British acts in recent years, and for good reason. Florence’s debut album Lungs (2009) already received critical acclaim on both sides of the pond and seeing her live is a real treat both for your ears and eyes. Florence’s powerful, expressive vocals and rather extravagant stage presence create a very special performance experience. To me, it’s the whole stage presence that is truly unforgettable: Florence’s dark vamp meets enigmatic witch charm, it’s all alluring and beautiful. Check out her spectacular videos for yourself.
In case you missed, Broken Social Scene recently released a new album, Forgiveness Rock Record. Worry not, it’s grand. They are touring all over the place, so make sure to grab your tickets ASAP.
It’s not that a lot can be taken from LCD Soundsystem’s latest video, it’s that this video doesn’t wait for you to take anything and basically just grabs you and throws you into some kind of white-joker mayhem. This is a great peace by Spike Jonez. This is how his Where the Wild Things Are should have looked like.
So Johnny Depp directed this video for Babybird based on an Ambrose Bierce 1890 story, which was also adapter by Hitchcock and the Twilight Zone. It’s a great opportunity to re-meet Babybird.
We probably all watched Grease as kids. Apparently some of us dreamed all the time since then on re-creating it. Check out the new Volume II by She & Him, it’s a cutie. Although from the duo, M. Ward is my prime choice. Wish he would have sung on the album more. Links: She & Him
